Daily Channel Synthesis

Deck automatically synthesizes conversations from your connected Slack channels every day, turning discussions into actionable insights.

Daily Channel Synthesis

Once you have connected Slack and added the Deck Bot to your channels, Deck automatically syncs and synthesizes messages from those channels on a daily basis. This means your team's Slack conversations are continuously turned into structured, actionable customer insights without any manual effort.

How It Works

  1. Message syncing: When you add a channel, Deck starts syncing it immediately using the history window you selected for that channel. After that, Deck syncs new messages from each connected Slack channel throughout the day. Messages are fetched in small batches to keep the process fast and reliable.
  2. Classification: Each message is analyzed by Deck's AI agents to determine whether it contains customer feedback or is general conversation. Only messages identified as feedback move to the next step.
  3. NPS routing: Messages that look like NPS responses are routed to Deck's NPS processor so scores and respondent feedback can be tracked correctly. For substantive feedback, Deck stores a concise synthesized title for the resulting NPS insight.
  4. Insight extraction: Non-NPS feedback messages are synthesized into insights. Deck identifies the customer quote, assigns a sentiment, picks a category (such as Pain Point, Feature Request, or Delight), and links the insight to a relevant theme.
  5. Theme assignment: If a matching theme already exists, the insight is added to it. If the feedback describes something new, Deck creates a new theme automatically.

What Gets Synthesized

Deck focuses on messages that contain customer feedback. Common examples include:

  • Customer support conversations forwarded to a Slack channel
  • Feedback shared by sales or customer success teams
  • Product requests or bug reports posted by teammates
  • Customer quotes or survey responses shared in channels

Messages that are general team chatter, bot notifications, or join/leave events are automatically filtered out.

Viewing Synthesized Insights

After synthesis, your insights appear in two places:

  • Visualize environment: Browse and filter all insights alongside data from your other integrations. Slack-sourced insights are treated the same as insights from interviews, support tickets, or surveys.
  • Manage Slack page: See each connected channel, the individual messages that were synced, and which insights were created from those messages. This is helpful for tracing an insight back to its original Slack message.
  • NPS reporting: Slack messages detected as NPS responses also contribute to your NPS analytics (score trends and respondent breakdowns).

Tips for Best Results

  • Dedicate channels to customer feedback: Channels that mix internal team chatter with customer feedback will still work, but dedicated feedback channels produce cleaner results.
  • Share full customer quotes: When your team shares feedback in Slack, including the customer's actual words helps Deck extract more accurate insights.
  • Connect multiple channels: Slack feedback channels are unlimited on every plan. Each connected channel is synced and synthesized independently.
  • Choose the right history window: Use a shorter backfill window for channels with high message volume, or a longer window when you want Deck to capture older customer feedback during setup.

Channel Limits by Plan

Slack feedback channels are unlimited on every plan:
