Competitors Settings

Enable Competitors, track rival products, schedule periodic check-ins, and remove companies from your workspace graph

Competitors Settings

Use Settings → Competitors to turn Competitors on or off for your workspace, manage the companies you track, and schedule periodic check-ins.

The intelligence graph itself still lives at Visualize → Competitors. See Competitors for research, themes, quotes, check-ins, and promoting findings into Opportunity Backlog.

Feature Active

The Enable Competitors switch controls whether Competitors appears in your workspace.

  • New organizations start with Competitors on. Billing plan defaults cannot turn it off later.
  • Organization admins can turn it off or back on from this page. The change applies immediately to Visualize → Competitors.
  • Members can open the page but cannot change the switch.

Only organization admins can enable or disable Competitors.

If Competitors is off, Visualize → Competitors is hidden. Turning it back on restores the last published graph; it does not start a new research run by itself. Turning Competitors off also turns periodic check-ins off.

Tracked competitors

When the feature is on, Settings lists the competitors Deck is tracking public feedback for.

  • Add Competitor uses the same flow as Visualize → Competitors: name + website starts research for that company and appends new reviews onto the graph you already have.
  • Add is unavailable while research is already running.
  • Members can see the list but cannot add companies.

Periodic check-ins

When Competitors is on, a Periodic check-ins card sits below the tracked-competitor list.

  • Organization admins can turn check-ins on or off and choose weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Turning the switch on without picking a cadence uses monthly.
  • Members can see the card but cannot change the switch or cadence.
  • Check-ins scrape public reviews and spend credits the same way in-app research does. Deck emails active members only when a check-in finds new reviews and completes.
  • There is no “run now”. The next run follows the cadence from your last completed check-in, or from your last successful research if you have not completed a check-in yet.

Only organization admins can enable check-ins or change the cadence. Check-ins require Competitors to be on.

Removing a competitor

Admins can delete a tracked competitor from this list. Deck removes that company and prunes quotes, insights, themes, and opportunity teasers that no longer have supporting evidence.

Only organization admins can delete a competitor. Delete is blocked while competitor research is running — wait for the run to finish, then try again.

Deleting a competitor does not turn the feature off. API and MCP cannot delete competitors; this Settings action is in-app only.
