Reindexing Settings

Run on-demand data reindexing for a selected theme

Reindexing Settings

Use Settings -> Reindexing to queue an on-demand cleanup run for one theme. This is useful when a theme has become too broad, category-like, or mixed with insights that should belong elsewhere.

On-demand reindexing

An admin selects a source theme and starts a reindexing run. Deck then reviews the insights in that theme, moves them to better matching destination themes when appropriate, creates missing destination themes when needed, and soft-deletes the source theme after the cleanup finishes.

Use it for themes such as:

  • Bugs & Errors
  • Usability Issues
  • Feature Requests
  • Other catch-all themes that are hiding more specific customer signals

Only organization admins can trigger reindexing runs.

Running reindexing

  1. Go to Settings -> Reindexing
  2. Choose the theme you want to clean up
  3. Click Run on-demand reindexing

Deck queues the run immediately. If another reindexing run is already active for your organization, Deck skips the new request and keeps the existing run in progress.

What happens next

Reindexing runs in the background. Large themes may be processed in several batches so Deck can safely move insights without blocking the app.

During the run, Deck may:

  • Move insights from the selected theme into existing themes
  • Create new destination themes when no existing theme is a good fit
  • Preserve other theme assignments already attached to each insight
  • Remove the selected source theme after all affected insights have been moved

The page no longer manages an automatic monthly reorganization schedule or shows monthly assurance history.

Reindexing changes are applied automatically once you start the run. Review the selected source theme carefully before triggering it.
